Yesterday, I was able to get my hands on an incredibly exciting craft project…I’m painting goblin skins!
Now that Henry V has opened, we’re working on A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the shop, and let me just tell you, Bruce’s designs for this show are stunning! Below is his rendering for the goblin costumes.

So what exactly am I doing to this make this rendering come to life? Glad you asked! Using tulip brand fabric spray paint, and a white skin tight suit, I am creating the flaming goblin skin to be worn under the pants.
First I painted a layer of brown on the garment to serve as a fleshy color, carefully staying true to anatomical highlights and contours of the skin. Then I gave it a coat of grey to make the flesh look more decayed and dead. This was followed by read streaks that radiated above and below the belly button as well as up the arms. This was then highlighted with some yellow to make it look more like flames. To finish the garment I added some texture by painting streaks of tulip puff paint in red and black up and down the torso of the garment.
